The Valhalla productions cannot run themselves and we are so fortunate to have
some fabulous people as part of the theatre team.
Kathy Barkett (Musical Director) is a Valhalla Alumnus! She was active in the choir program and music never left her heart. She graduated with a degree in music from Point Loma Nazarene University. She teaches private piano and voice lessons and is the musical director for her church praise band in La Mesa.
Bev Claar (Assistant Technical Director) has been with Valhalla since 2005. She served as staff and Asst. Production Manager for the East County Performing Arts Center for 15 years. Bev is a mentor for the “Fluffy Bunnies of Doom” Technical Theatre Competition and Design Team. Bev has advised and assisted several high school theatre programs throughout the county. She currently works for 3-D Stage Lighting in San Diego. Bev is a member of the Tech Theatre Advisory Board and an instructor for the Tech Theatre Lab Intensives.
Claudia Dyson-Hightower (Choreographer) has been with Valhalla since 1996. She has taught dance for Grossmont College, Stage Seven, North County Dance Arts, Black Mountain, Oceanside Dance Academy, Rubios Dance Studio, Gretchen Productions, Hot Flash Follies, and has choreographed beauty pageants for over 20 years. She has performed in San Diego, Colorado, Las Vegas, and other fabulous locations. Claudia’s credo: “Hope is the melody of the future, and faith is the ability to dance to it.”
Dustin Holum (Technical Director) is a Valhalla Theatre graduate and has been with the department since 1996. He graduated from University California, San Diego with a Theatre degree with an emphasis in Technical Design. He has worked in TV, film, theatre, concerts & corporate live events. Dustin is currently a Project Manager for ShowTec. Some of his projects include Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disneyland, QUALCOMM, DirecTV, DELL, & Fireworks America. Dustin is a member of the Tech Theatre Advisory Board and an instructor for the Tech Theatre Lab Intensives.
Robbie Henry (Sound Consultant) is a Valhalla Theatre graduate and has been with the department for 3 years. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Sound Design. He has worked for La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe Theatre and has toured with the national tour of "Jersey Boys". Robbie is currently on the road as Audio Engineer for the First National Tour of "In the Heights". Robbie is a member of the Tech Theatre Advisory Board and an instructor for the Tech Theatre Lab Intensives.
Jason Maddy (Stage Combat Director)has been with Valhalla since 2009. Jason received his MFA from the University of Illinois Urban-Champaign. Local Theatres include: Premiere Productions (Broadway Theatre), North Coast Repertory Theatre, the Welk Resort Theatre, San Diego Musical Theater and Intrepid Theatre Company. Regional Theatres include: the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival and Pechanga Resort (Theatrical Arts International). He has taught for theatre companies and colleges all over the country including Mt San Jacinto College, The Utah Shakespearean Festival, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the La Jolla Playhouse. Jason is a certified actor Combatant by the Society of American Fight Directors and hopes to continue this particular passion in the future.
